The Elusive Haitian Dollar - Haitian Forum

The elusive (and annoying) Haitian Dollar! The Haitian Gourde is Haiti’s currency, even though people typically refer to the Haitian Dollar which is equal to 5 Haitian Gourdes. However, there is no physical monetary unit that reflects the Haitian Dollar. Anyone living in Haiti will tell you that the picture above depicts 50-dollar, 2-dollar, 100-dollar, 10-dollar, and 5-dollar bills (even though those amounts are not displayed on the corresponding bills) Second nature to most, but annoying to many! Is there even any use for the Haitian Gourde anymore? Is the system worth fixing, or should it be left as-is since it works fine for those who use it the most?
