The Florida - Haiti Interstate Tunnel, I-95U or Caribbean International Highway Route 1 is an under construction underwater highway tunnel spanning from southern Florida, outside of Miami to northern Haiti, the city of Cap-Haitien. The tunnel began construction in mid 2009, so far spanning 100 miles in length at the sea floor. The tunnel itself is expected completion by early 2015 with addition work completing by late 2016, spanning a total of 600 miles. The Caribbean International Highway construction was featured on Discovery Channel'sExtreme Engineering documentary series.

I-95U

The Union of Everett interstate route number assigned to the tunnel is I-95U standing for Interstate 95 Underwater. The portion of the planned Caribbean Sea Tunnel, will span from Miami, Florida to Cap-Haitien in Haiti, a total of 600 miles of tunnel set at the bottom of the sea floor. I-95U will feature a rest stop every 50 miles containing fuel stations, food, restrooms and fire/medical/police centers. Everetti police stations will be located every hundred miles which would be used to respond to car accidents and other incidents. Fire/rescue and EMS stations will be located every 50 miles at each rest stop. I-95U will have a speed limit of 75 miles per hour, which will be enforced electronically rather than have police patrols. The tunnel will have three lanes of traffic for both the west bound and east bound sides, totalling six lanes. In addition to the road for cars, there will be three railroad lines, two of which are regular train lines and one will be part of the Maglev system as the Caribbean International Highway Line also called the I-95 Line.

I-95U is a concept tunnel as part of a global architecture test for a plan for a global highway that spans the Earth, originally conceived in the 1990s. If the 600 miles tunnel succeeds, it may lead to the planning stages of the global highway system.

Construction

Currently, 110 miles of the CIH-1 tunnel have been completed, spanning from Miami, Florida to the CIH-1/CIH-2 Interchange point. Construction involves the use of a massive crane barge which carries each of the 660 foot long sections of tunnel and lowers them into the water where they will be locked and sealed in place. Each tunnel section is 660 feet long, 140 feet wide and 25 feet tall, totalling 4,800 tunnel sections to be placed under the water. There are currently four barges working, each carrying two tunnel sections. A total of eight sections are laid a day, totalling one mile in distance added to the tunnel every 24 hours. Tunnel sections are produced and constructed on land in large warehouses.

Interstate I-932U is a second Everetti owned interstate tunnel route recently approved for construction. I-932U will span from Cancun, Yucatan to a junction with I-95U, north of Cuba. The tunnel will span 400 miles under the Gulf of Mexico. An additional Maglev route has been added to the Miami-Haiti line that will stop at an undersea station in which a Yucatan-Maya Coast line will be installed, spanning from Reynosa, Maya Coast to the I95U-I932U Maglev station located at a rest stop at the I95U-I932U junction. Eight rest stops will exist along I-932U, each containing an emergency rescue and medical, fire, police station, motel rest, fast food and restrooms. I-932U will have a speed limit of 75 miles per hour with six lanes of traffic (three eastbound, three westbound) and three rail lines (one Maglev running from Cancun to the undersea junction) and two standard rail lines for cargo, transport and other rail trains.

Construction

Construction on I-932U began August 9th 2010, starting in Cancun, Yucatan. By late 2011, I-932U will be connected to the already completed I-95U route.

Caribbean International Highway

The Caribbean International Highway is a proposed CARICOM plan to create an underwater tunnel highway connecting several caribbean nations with road routes. CIH-1 is already under construction, the I-95U tunnel stretching from Florida to Haiti. Additional tunnels will connect between nations such as CIH-2, connecting Cuba to I-95U and CIH-3, connecting the Bahamas main island and capitol, Nassau, to the I-95U tunnel. Other routes, CIH-4 will connect Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic and CIH-5 connecting Haiti to Jamaica with a stop at the U.S. Navassa Islands.

Venezeula

A part of the CIH proposal is in agreement with Everett's peace treaty with Venezuela. To aid in trade between all Caribbean nations, Venezuela wants a connection to the tunnel system. Everett though did not want to disturb all of the smaller islands along the way, which may damage their ecosystems and clear waters and beaches. A proposed tunnel addition, named CIH-6 would run from Puerto Rico, passing through the Virgin Islands and follow south through all of the smaller Caribbean nations, passing through St. Kitts & Nevis, Montserrat, Guadeloupe,Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines and Grenada into Venezuela. This remains in discussion but would open up trade and tourism for all the affected islands and nations along the tunnel route.

  1. This is a great deal, people in Cap-Haitien are Happy about it. Cap-Haitien is rich in ancien history. it has more landmark than any other city in the Caraibe.

  3. If this realized, hopefully Haiti might be open for more trade with other carebbean nations. my only concerns, i hope no one trying to exploit what ever left in Haiti(Gold, oil, sugar cane, coffe, cocoa, and much more. If you recall from 1492 until 1804... continues today cause haitians don't want to unite like our Founding father did. Toussaint Louverture, Jean Jacques Dessalinnes, Francois Capois La-Mort, Henri Christoph et Petion. You live and you learn...!

In addition they should also search to see if this project is related to the earthquake that destroyed the country since I heard people said something similar to the origin of the earthquake.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think is a great idea, but my concern is why they didn't publish the news that every Haitian could know about it? What is behind this project? If it'll in profit of Haitian nation or what's it exactly?

  15. You guys are full of crap. This 600 miles tunnel began in 2009 and 100 miles have been completed. How in the world would they complete 500 miles by 2011. It doesn't add up. Furthermore, New Jersey and New York State projected tunnel (which is about five miles across the HUDSON River not the ATLANTIC ocean) has been terminated due to fiscal problem. Although the federal government has committed billions of dollars toward the ARC tunnel, the governor of New Jersey cancelled the project because it is a gross misuse of taxpayer's money. Now this project would have provided 6,000 immediate jobs and untold economic development for generations. It would have reduced congestion on the roads and increase property values. However, it would have cost New Jersey billions of dollars with no end in sight. Now, imagine if the State of New Jersey cancelled the project because they were facing a potential 5 billions in costs overruns on the tunnel. What would be the cost of building a tunnel that magnitude under the Atlantic Ocean. Are you guys on CRACK or INSANE? I suggest that you takeyour medications.

  19. Hold it! The original idea was to drag Haiti and connect it to Florida which is impossible and that's why the earthquake happened. Now the information on this site is not up to date. Indeed, this project will be done way before the projected date. The reason behind it is simple, they finally get a way to bring the coke here quicker so that whoever wrote this article don't get despressed and write stuff like that. I am not saying it's a bad article because we learned at least 3 things from it.
1- whoever wrote it is full of crap.

Bridges and tunnels can take six months or a year to build the beginning or the end of the project, but the middle body can take one or two months to put together. It also depends on how many distance to estimate the time it's going to finish.

The work is done. The Haitian government wants the tolls to be collected from the Haiti's side while the US is crying like a baby, saying it's not fair because all the investment has been done from the US side.
This work has caused the earthquake, the hurricane and the cholera. The goal of the tunnel is to ease the transportation of the oil from Thomonde to Florida; plus the gold from the north and the uranium from Jacmel.
Wake up people...We should protest the stealing of our treasures. Aristide for life!

    ReplyDelete
  48. A lot of you guys and particularly my Haitian compatriots who posted comments on that subject, that's your right. But, it would be wisely advised that you take the time to do your researches in every possible angle of that matter. My suggestions to you are to find out what is Union Averette? Who are those who run this union? Where do they find money to finance that projetc and what is the purpose of a project of that magnitude? I'm a litle skeptical as you are, However, I'm doing my homework right now which is the researching of the truth to find the reality in this day dream instead of thinking the impossible. One thing to keep in mind is the world is on a fast track, therefore a lot of things are possible.

  49. I do not believe it, this whole thing does not make sense. Who is paying for the tab? who is behind it/...the Illimunati?

  50. A project of this magnitude is a big undertaken I wonder if its really happening. There was a similar project that I saw on discovery channel connecting new york to london through a massive underwater tunnel in less than an hour, it is my belief that the technology is there but it is an enormous project and can take decade to complete to suggest an underwater tunnel is being built right now connecting florida to haiti remain a mystery. Nothing is impossible look what happened in Dubai they were able to built a new world right on the water, it goes to show you with devotion and determination anything can happened. So I am hopeful that the caribbean interstate highway is not a prank, somebody's joke, I am hoping its a real project that can bring much needed financial stability to the island of haiti...

  66. This story is a medication to put haitians to sleep before the publication of the results of the election in Haiti.

1 The designers of this highway favored Cap-Haitien and royally ignored the US naval base of Guantanamo. Very funny.

2 The engineers would build 600 miles under the sea rather than building 150 miles Dade-Havana and Guantanamo-Port de paix, and Santo Domingo-San Juan.

3 Why would the tunnel start from the city of Miami instead of Dade the southern tip of Florida, saving on the distance and city congestion.

4 Why would the tunnel/hithway enter Hatit at Cap Haitien and not Port de Paix which is closer to the west.

5 How can such a sophisticated system with restaurnts, gas stations, police stations, and immigration offices and camera to control traffic be done by dropping pieces from a barge and we are done.

6 radio Ginnen knows about it and CNN is not sophisticated enough to learn about such a bigh issue.

He became more angry when he learned that the plan does not even include the US Guantanamo bay nearby,on the eastern tip of the island of cuba, whereas it includes Havana vieja near the office of Fidel Castro near the western end of the island.

Rene preval is also very upset. He prefers highway connections with Nepal where he can import sick soldiers who can kill thousands of the poorest of haitiens without anyone accusing him of political assassination or human right abuse.

I, Mr. Toussaint, am also very upset because our president mr. Rene preval has been on his knees for a few years already in front of the white man--- why in the world would they start such a projet in his country without even telling him. He knew first hand when the barge of poison industrial garbage was coming from Pensylvania to Gonaives some years ago. He knew that those soldiers from Nepal had cholera, a desease that had diseappeared from Haiti 200 years ago.
But his handlers, the overpaid lobbyists in washington, did not tell him about a project of a highway entering au-cap and exitint at jeremy to enter the us (not haitian) Navassa island.

  76. I agree with Emmanuel... Although this idea sounds really cool there just isn't any evidence on the Internet to support that this is actually happening. A project of this scale would certainly have a paper trail somewhere. Too bad it's a hoax. Something like this would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  77. HOAX? Are you out of your mind?
They are doing it for the oil; and according to some experts, the oil from Haiti is too pure to be transported by boats. That is why the tunnel comes to existence to transport the Haitian OIL to the States.

But eventually, I saw through his techniques and he finally admitted to me he was hacked into this friend's account, trying to get hits to make money. So, until you can show us evidence that this is actually happening and not some story you've invented, you're not going to make any headway with most rational people. We need proof. Haitian Oil is too pure? Give me a break. Show us facts and figures documented on some independent site and maybe then we'll be able to start believing that something like this is possible.

  89. Stop beleiving in that bull....The Federal Government spent 16 billions dollars to build the biggest tunnel project in US history in Boaton, Massachusetts called The Big Dig. That project when you count all the exits and the entrances is only 7 miles long. Now, let's do some math together. How many 7 miles in 600 miles? The answer is 85.71. That means this mega tunnel project would cost about 86 times of the one in BOSTON 1.376 quadrillions dollars (1,376,000,000,000). Only God has that kind of money.

  117. The Union of Everett = Constructed world = Fantasy worlds created through a process world building are known as a constructed world. Constructed worlds elaborate and make self-consistent the setting of a fantasy work. World building relies on materials and concepts taken from the real world.

Despite the use of magic or other fantastic elements such as dragons, the world is normally presented as one that would function normally, one in which people could actually live, making economic, historical, and ecological sense. It is considered a flaw to have, for example, pirates living in lands far from trade routes, or to assign prices for a night's stay in an inn that would equate to several years' income for a farmer.

Furthermore, the fantastic elements should ideally operate according to self-consistent rules of their own; for example, if wizards' spells sap their strength, a wizard who does not appear to suffer this must either be putting up a facade, or have an alternative explanation. This distinguishes fantasy worlds from surrealism and even from such dream worlds such as are found in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.

If that does not do it, you can all drive I95 to Miami which becomes I95-U taking you to Haiti. Have a safe trip.

First off the writer of the article should realize that to build a 600 mile tunnel like this, its going to take longer then 16-24 months. The Big Dig in Boston was only 4 miles and it took nearly 10 years. Second who is paying for this? Haiti? with what money? The US Government, come on, we dont even fix our own roads, let alone something silly like this. Finally a link to Cuba? The United States barely allows air traffic to Cuba, let alone a tunnel link. 138. To anyone one wondering, yes, this story is false. Furthermore, the "facts" provided to support the story are in-genuine and easily discredited. A multi-nation project of such magnitude would have been talked about on major news networks from its concept, let alone its actual construction.

A quick Google search about this story brings up no valid proof or evidence to substantiate the existence of this "Interstate Tunnel." CNN, Fox, MSNBC, ABC, etc. No results! Lack of proof aside, the costs needed to allow this project to mature into fruition, would easily exceed into the tens of billions of dollars.

With the recent earthquake, cholera outbreak, and general poverty that distresses the nation, wouldn't you think Haiti's government would be more focused on fixing those problems, instead of investing money into this "tunnel." Also, Haiti owes an innumerable amount of money to other countries. I don't think this grand expenditure would fare well with its creditors.

Wake up, people. This tunnel is fantasy. The crude maps shown could be easily generated by a semi-computer literate 11-year-old. To the guy who posted this article, you're reasonably good at spreading false information, and it's easily understandable why someone would believe this.

Back in 1994, it cost $21 billion to link
31.4 mi undersea rail tunnel linking between Kent near Dover in the United Kingdom with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais in France.

    http://www.engineering.com/Library/ArticlesPage/tabid/85/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/79/The-Channel-Tunnel.aspx

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_Tunnel

With the cost of inflation, 31.4 miles would cost about $30 billion for 31.4 miles.

Haiti is 681 miles from Miami. For this endeavor, cost per mile is $1.05 Billion.

681 miles would cost $715.05 billion to build such tunnel.

Let's assume this rumor was true. I wasn't able to find one single credible source on the internet or anywhere else.

Presently in the states: We have two wars, a bad economy with high unemployment rate, California is almost bankrupted, etc., etc. Why would the US government take such endeavor? This story is a hoax.

  158. While the whole thing could be a hoax, I doubt that it is one. First of all, the technology is readily available: those who are interested could check the EXTREME ENGINEERING TV PROGRAMs on either the Discovery Chanel, the TLC Chanel or NETFLIX.

Secondly, something like this should have been expected: Do you all think that all these people are interested in Haiti for humanitarian reasons? I believe that where there is smoke, you should look for fire. Such a project must be profitable in the long run, otherwise it would not be undertaken.

Go check this website, WWW.EPAGECREATION.COM/HAITI.HTML , after doing so, you may have a better idea of possible reasons why this project has been undertaken. Could you think of a better way to "officially" smuggle whatever you want out of the country without the people knowing about it?

There is nothing wrong in exploiting our resources. The problem may be in the way it is being done. We must have a say in how it is done and make sure that our resources really benefit our country and ALL its inhabitants. According to certain estimates, the exploitation of all our resources could net about $10,000,000 for each living Haitian. It may be an exaggeration, who knows? But as a PEOPLE we have the right and the responsibility to be informed of what goes on in our country. We can't give them up. Otherwise it will be like in that old song: J'ai donne toutes mes perles contre un joli chapeau a un gros monsieur blanc qui venait par bateau. While it may not be shameful to be poor, it is very embarrassing to be the stupidest nation on Earth.

And the last thing is that even though it is obvious that Haiti finds itself in a bad situation ( not accidental and well calculated, I think ), I found it suspicious that they kept repeating ALL THE TIME, as if they wanted to etch it in our brains and in the brains of the whole international community, HAITI THE POOREST NATION IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE. Could that not be a perfect reason for any intervention? Let us use our brains to see through the smoke screens. I am sure that all jokes put aside and all naivety thrown away, the behavior of certain powers has been very suspicious. Dessalines and all the others must be turning in their graves: THIS IS SOMETHING SERIOUS!!! There are too many coincidences: earthquake, cholera, Ex-president Clinton so concerned about Haiti on his hospital bed, Ex-president Bush following suit, Sara Palin landing in Haiti next and Highway to Florida... come on!
Does anybody know if it is true that they bought properties in Haiti?

  163. The construction of an underground automated highway (UAH) requires technological developments in several areas:
An aboveground automated highway system (AHS) should be well established before a UAH is built.
Zero-emissions cars would be extremely helpful in encouraging UAH use. Any system of underground highways will be difficult to ventilate. Cutting out the exhaust from cars will make this task easier.
This is an exert from the Discovery Channel:

Before a large project like a whole system of underground tunnels is undertaken, it would be helpful to have improved tunnel-boring technology. It took four years to build the Channel Tunnel (the Chunnel) under the English Channel, and that tunnel is only 31 miles (50 km) long [source: Britannica]. Experts hope any UAH will be much longer.

  179. You people are crazy...

This 600 miles of tunnel will be completed in 3 years...?

Port Of Miami tunnel is less than a mile long and will take 6 years to build and costs $1 BILLION...
Who's funding this $600 Billion Haiti tunnel and why would you build a tunnel to Haiti anyways, there's nothing there.

Get real you fools, this is complete bullshit.

  191. Most of you have got it all wrong. It's not a tunnel for tourists, it's a passage way to siphon the massive gold deposit they have found in Haiti as well the vast deposit of bauxite. And, don't forget the oil deposit that is larger than the one in Venezuela and for good measure the uranium.
All this is well documented it's not fake, all the mineral and other natural resources of Haiti is what they are after. Look for the info yourself, check the source and make your own judgment the validity of whether it's true or false, don't just say it's nonsense.
